Record of Lodoss War
Pirotess ("Goddess" version)

Record of Lodoss War was something I happened to catch an episode of while flipping through television channels one early Saturday morning many years ago. I didn't know what anime was, but I was captivated by the story and the animation that was unlike anything I had seen before. I began tuning into SciFi's "Saturday Morning Anime" in hopes that they would show more episodes, but alas.. they did not :( So I went to Blockbuster, rented the series, and became a fan. Pirotess was a character that caught my interest immediately, although she wasn't really a central character in the plot.

While thinking of costumes to make this year, I remembered my affection for this character and thought it would be fun to get Beverly to be Deedlit with me. Beverly is also a long-time fan of Lodoss so it didn't take much arm twisting to get her to agree ;) The first costume set we decided to make is from the artwork displayed on the left. I always thought the costumes seemed sort of Greek Goddess-like so that's why we refer to this set as the Goddess version.

The most time consuming aspect of this costume was making the armor, simply because it takes quite some time for all the glue and paint to dry. I took lots of photos during the creation of the armor pieces, and once Beverly and I have time to get together and work on it, a little step by step guide will be posted. We used the tutorial from Firefly Path as a base for the armor, if you wish to view their tutorial just sign up for membership - it's free :) The ears were ordered from Aradani Costumes, and are lots of fun to wear :) The wig was purchased from Cosworx and I couldn't be happier with the quality and color of it!
